The Nashville First Baptist Youth Choir returned to The Magic City – beautiful Miami, Florida, in 2022. Our team was on assignment in partnership with the North American Mission Board as Miami was one of its SEND City initiatives. We remain grateful for your prayers on behalf of our 2022 Youth Choir Mission Tour as we sought to eternally impact people’s lives in one of America’s most culturally diverse metropolitan areas. We encountered some wonderful ministry, fellowship, and educational/cultural experiences as we drew closer to one another and closer to our Lord. Our optimum goal was to have the pleasure of leading others into a life-changing encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ!

It is thrilling to know how God prepared such exciting opportunities for ministry through which we were privileged to share even with the restrictions still imposed due to a world-wide pandemic. Our main mission effort was to serve in partnership, by assignment of the North American Mission Board, with Village Church in the Cutler Bay area of South Miami. We led Vacation Bible School at an apartment complex in a very low-income area, served the homeless and led worship for the Chapel Service at the Miami Rescue Mission, and served with various other inner-city mission endeavors, including Bridge to Hope Ministries. We will also lead worship in several churches in Miami and Atlanta, and sang the National Anthem at a Miami Marlins vs. Colorado Rockies Baseball Game in our quest to shine the Light of Christ everywhere we were called to serve. Soli Deo Gloria!

We were grateful that we were once again able to embark on some incredible Youth Choir Mission Tour experiences in 2021. Our team, still hampered by the effects and restrictions imposed due to a world-wide pandemic, boldly shared the love of Jesus Christ in Washington, D.C.—our nation’s capital—and one of our North American Mission Board SEND City initiatives. Our main mission effort was in partnership and by assignment of the North American Mission Board with Waterfront Church in the Navy Yard area of Washington, D.C., just a few blocks from the Nationals Baseball Park and less than a mile from the United States Capitol. We led a Mission Vacation Bible School for them, as well as engaged in neighborhood canvasing around the Capitol. We provided ministry at two homeless shelters (Central Union Mission in D.C., and Helping Up Mission in Baltimore), an inner-city school for underprivileged children (Cornerstone Schools of Washington, D.C.), and at the Fort Belvoir Army Base Chapel. We were privileged to present concerts at the Jefferson Memorial and the World War II Memorials. We also enjoyed many wonderful fellowship opportunities together as we visited some of the nation’s most popular and noteworthy landmarks, placed a wreath in a special ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery, and celebrated the Fourth of July on the Capital Mall in the shadows of the Washington Monument. It is always our joy to shine the Light of Christ wherever we go on these once-in-a-lifetime, evangelistic, mission-minded adventures.

Our Youth Choir Mission Tour 2019 led us to New York City—THE BIG APPLE! We prayed for many supernatural, life-changing experiences which could only be explained by the powerful movement of God in our midst as we served together with the Metropolitan New York Baptist Association doing street witnessing, neighborhood connection projects, prayer walking, and concerts. Our team of 69 students and sponsors encountered diverse cultures of the world as we found ourselves in Queens working directly with Evangelical Bengali Church (a Bangladesh congregation) and their Church Planter with the North American Mission Board. We also partnered with the Journey Church in Manhattan, and in Hell’s Kitchen with a new church plant also supported by the North American Mission Board. We ministered to the homeless in partnership with the Bowery Mission in two different locations; presented a concert in Foley Square/Thomas Paine Park in Lower Manhattan; and led worship with Calvary Baptist Church of New York, Iglesia Bautista Canaan (Canaan Baptist Church, a Latino Church in Queens), and Sunny Hills Community Church in Virginia. We were also privileged to present a concert on the USS Intrepid anchored in New York Harbor on the Hudson River. It is always our joy to shine the Light of Christ wherever we go on these once-in-a-lifetime, evangelistic, mission-minded adventures.

The Nashville First Baptist Youth Choir made it back to San Diego, California, in the summer of 2018. They were overwhelmed by the many dynamic, life-changing experiences the Lord led them to encounter. These Musicians on Mission produced a Vacation Bible School for two Myanmar Community-Burmese congregations, Set Free Ministries, and First Baptist, Clairemont of San Diego. They also ministered to the homeless; presented a worship concert at a transitional ministry for drug addicts and former inmates; lead worship at First Baptist, Clairemont; served and sang a concert in a Downtown San Diego Soup Kitchen; worked in the San Diego Food Bank; engaged in various inner-city mission projects with the New Vision Urban Mission Ministries organization; and presented a concert on the USS Midway. The 2018 Youth Choir Mission Tour Team remains grateful for all of the prayers, interest, and support received as they sought to follow Christís mission to reach those in need of Him through their California Dreamin' experience!

Our Youth Choir Mission Tour 2017 took us to New Orleans, Louisiana, where the Nashville First Baptist Saints Go Marchin’ In! This mission tour promised and delivered enriching opportunities for evangelism, ministry, exuberant worship, spiritual growth, fun and fellowship for our entire youth group. We served in various inner-city mission projects together and lead Vacation Bible School with Christ Baptist Church. We also ministered to the homeless, lead worship, and shared concerts in various civic venues including the New Orleans Mission, the Rivarde Juvenile Detention Center, the Washington Artillery Park Amphitheater, St. Louis Cathedral, and the Lambeth House and The Landing at Behrman Place Retirement Centers; being the Light of Christ wherever we went in this culturally diverse and needy city.

The 2016 Youth Choir Mission team brought home some incredible memories from the life-changing encounters they shared while on tour in Chicago, Illinois. The Youth Choir shared the love of Christ and served at the Pacific Garden Mission, the Illinois Youth Detention Center, and the Chicago Field Museum. They also led worship and partnered in various inner-city ministry endeavors with Uptown Baptist Church through their Urban Ministry Institute. They were able to assist with campus projects at the church, provide food and water to the homeless and others in need, as well as pray with individuals in the uptown community.

“I thank God for putting me there that day because it really changed my life,” says choir member Ryan Latimer. Countless lives were touched by the students’ music, ministry, and mission adventures in this city which boasts a metropolitan population of more than 9.7 million people. Thank you once again for your continued support of the students and Youth Choir of Nashville First Baptist Church. Soli Deo Gloria!

The First Baptist Nashville Youth Choir Mission Tour took our students to San Antonio, TX, in the summer of 2014. This amazing group of students and sponsors made some texas size memories as they took in more Tex-Mex, culture, and ministry action than many would in a life-time.

The youth choir engaged in ministry with shelters, VBS, concerts at the Alamo, and all over the city.  At the end of the day, Texas was big, but this became a God-sized trip.  He was glorified and the students and adults alike grew closer to Christ as they pointed others toward Him.

A tremendous group of 70 students and sponsors went on Mission for God to Chicago, Illinois, in 2010. The Windy City brought many experiences which could only be explained by the powerful movement of God's Spirit blowing in and through us during those days.

Ministry endeavors included leading a Vacation Bible School for over 70 children with the Iglesia Bautista Hebron (Hebron Baptist Church) and La Mision de Jesús (The Mission of Jesus), two Hispanic congregations located on the outskirts of Downtown Chicago. Our Youth Choir also presented concerts and shared the love of Christ in various civic venues including Navy Pier, Shriners Hospital for Children, Pacific Garden Mission, the Illinois Youth Center, and Edward Hines VA Hospital. They also led worship at the Brainard Avenue Baptist Church, La Mision de Jesús, and Uptown Baptist Church. More than 18 professions of faith were recorded during our mission adventure and countless lives were touched by the music, ministry, and mission endeavors in which our students were engaged.
